Mungo National Park & the Silo Art Trail

Tuesday 15th to Tuesday 22nd June 2021

The Silo Art idea has certainly taken off over the last couple of years and the beautiful art work is really something to be seen.

We’d love you to join us on this tour as we head firstly from the North Coast to Tamworth and then onto Condobolin.   Enroute to  Mildura we will visit Shear Australia – the National Shearers Hall of Fame in Hay.  After travelling through the Hay Plains, we have a stop at the Discovery Centre in Balranald before heading through Euston and onto Mildura.

A guide will join us for the day as we visit Mungo National Park.  We will view the “Walls of China” which is the unique sands in the area.  All the history of the area will be explained by our guide as we weave our way through the rare beauty of the geological formations.

We then spend another fabulous touring day viewing the many and varied Silo Art specimens.   These large scale mural portraits are painted on grain silo’s and depict a unique story relevant to their regions.   They’ve become a real tourist attraction over the years and photographs have been spread world wide.   Each day more and more towns are taking up the challenge of the Silo Arts.

On our way to Wagga Wagga, we’ll enjoy a self guided tour of The Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum which is a tribute to those who worked on and with the Flying Boats during WW2.   There’s lots to see here.

And then we begin our homeward journey travelling to Newcastle and then home full of wonderful memories.
